2020 is fast approaching and I just wanted to spend a few moments reflecting over 2019. First of all I would like to thank each and every one of my followers who have made me feel really special. It means a lot to me knowing that there are people out there who want to read what I have to say. If my writing helps just one person to become more positive about life, then that makes me feel fantastic.
In 2019, I started the first year of a Creative Arts degree which will eventually incorporate both writing and photography. The first year introduced you to 5 difference Creative Art topics, Art, Photography, Creative Writing, Visual Communication and Textiles. I’m not going to lie, it was hard, writing academically is very different to writing freely. I perservered though and proud to announce I passed. The pass mark was 40% and I got 58%, which reflects that I still have a lot to learn and will continue with the next course starting in the new year, all the same I was pretty proud of myself.
Another memorable moment was to put a reservation deposit on a new apartment by the sea, something I would not have thought possible ten years ago. Now it’s a dream come true.
I grew my hair and transformed into a blonde, yes you can if you want to, not sure I will stay this colour but why not try something new, give yourself a confidence boost. Other moments, I stayed in a haunted pub, climbed a mountain, had spa weekends, went to a Spice Girls concert spent time with my daughters, family and friends in the UK, I read and wrote all year and now I’m so excited to be looking forward to new beginnings, adventures and plans for my 60th year.
Now it’s new year’s eve 2019, in 2020 I am starting as I mean to go on, it will be my 60th year (still can’t quite get my head around it). Begining with a trip to Bahrain, new hair, new nails, dinner and cocktails await. Then one week later it’s a trip to Thailand, combining a yoga retreat, beach life, visiting an elephant sanctuary, The Big Budha and having Thai spa treatments, to name but a few ideas. You are never too old to dream and make plans and to change your life, your hair, your clothes, your job, you can do it, trust me, surround yourself with positive people and it will happen.
I will be leaving Saudi Arabia after ten years and intend to hit the ground running. I’m going to miss my adopted home country, although it has had its restrictions, in general I have loved living and working in this country and will be sad to leave. Dhahran has been my home, my job and my life, I have some amazing memories that have come about through knowing some amazing people. However, new horizons beckon. I remember arriving in the Kingdom with two suitcases and 500 pounds in my purse (borrowed). In 2020 I will be leaving with wonderful memories of traveling to countries I would never have dreamt of visiting, achieving goals that were impossible before as a single mum. I have had an amazing career with a company that has really been good to me and has given me the ability to now have a property by the sea that I’m excited to go and live in along with planned trips to Spain, Italy, Bali and Scotland.
The way I see it, turning 60 is really not bad, in fact it is starting to look pretty epic and I can’t wait to start the next part of my life. I will be blogging my progress along the way and hope to be able to pass on tips, reviews and positive messages. Learn to have the encouragement and belief that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and believe you can do it, no matter what your age is. If I can do it, so can you, looking forward to sharing with you and hopefully hear about your stories turning 50, 60 and beyond.
